Product Description
Mobil Glygoyle HE 460 is a high performance, highly efficient, fully synthetic, polyalkylene glycol (PAG) worm gear lubricant developed for use under operating conditions beyond the capabilities of other synthetic lubricants and mineral oils. It incorporates a proprietary additive package designed to provide EP/anti-wear protection, corrosion and rust protection and foam resistance without detracting from the intrinsic attributes of the polyglycol base oils. It also provides excellent lubricity and low traction to decrease gearbox friction, resulting in increased efficiency and reduced bulk oil temperature. Mobil Glygoyle HE 460 has outstanding thermal and oxidation stability that reduces sludge formation and deposit buildup. It is compatible with most seals and gaskets, but not with mineral oils. Its very low pour points ensures excellent low-temperature fluidity. It is hygroscopic, and does not separate from water.
The Mobil Glygoyle HE 460 is primarily designed for the lubrication of worm gears, especially for heavy-duty, severe service applications. It has proven to be an excellent lubricant for all types of industrial gears and plain and anti-friction bearings under extremely severe service conditions. It has provided outstanding results in lubricating gears and bearings.
Mobil Glygoyle HE 460 has gained the support of key OEMs and are the products of choice for many equipment operators, worldwide.
Features and Benefits
The Mobil Glygoyle brand of lubricants is recognised and appreciated around the world for their innovation and outstanding performance. The molecular designed polyalkylene glycol synthetic products, specially chosen for use in the Mobil Glygoyle HE 460, demonstrate the continuing commitment to using advanced technology to provide outstanding products. A key factor in the development of Mobil Glygoyle HE 460 was the close contacts between our formulation scientists and application specialists with key OEMs to ensure that our product offerings will provide exceptional performance in the continually evolving industrial equipment designs.
Our formulation scientists worked closely with OEMs and key customers to develop Glygoyle HE 460, specifically to formulate the leading lubricant for severe worm gear applications. Worm gears often operate under severe temperature conditions because, by design, they are relatively small units with high power ratings. The polyalkylene glycol structures chosen for these products were exposed to a rigorous protocol of testing, not the least of which is the assessment of their traction behaviour which is the key property determining worm gear efficiency. The resulting low traction products significantly improve worm gear efficiency and at the same time, reduce heat generated and bulk oil temperature.
Mobil Glygoyle HE 460 lubricants offers the following features and potential benefits:
Features |
Advantages and Potential Benefits |
| Superb thermal and oxidative stability and sludge resistance as well as excellent antiwear protection | Provides greater gear protection under severe load factor situations |
| Increased production because of extended lubricant life, less scheduled and unscheduled downtime |
| Lower maintenance costs and replacement expenditures |
| Low coefficients of friction and traction | Improved worm gear efficiency and lower oil operating temperatures for lower operating (power) costs and longer seal life. |
| High thermal conductivity | Lowers operating temperatures at the gear mesh and in the bulk oil by improved heat dissipation |
| High viscosity index, low pour point and absence of wax | Easy start-up because of excellent low-temperature fluidity - especially important for successful operation of remotely located equipment |
| Very good resistance to corrosion and rusting | Excellent equipment protection, even during downtime provides long equipment life and smooth start-up, with associated labour and material cost savings |
| Multipurpose industrial equipment capability | Potential to use less products and reduced inventory costs |
Applications
As with other polyglycol-based lubricants, Mobil Glygoyle HE 460 is not miscible with mineral oils and must not be used as make-up for systems filled with conventional mineral oils, nor must mineral oils be used as make-up for systems filled with Mobil Glygoyle products. Mobil Glygoyle Series are hygroscopic and do not separate from water. Due to their inherent high specific gravity, water does not drop to the bottom of reservoirs. The Mobil Glygoyle HE 460 is compatible with many seal materials; however, there is the potential for substantial variations in the elastomers being used today. For best results, consult your equipment supplier, seal manufacturer, or your local Mobil representative to verify compatibility.
Mobil Glygoyle HE 460 is primarily designed for the lubrication of heavy-duty worm gears, but is also used to lubricate plain and rolling contact bearings and other industrial gearing in a wide variety of applications. Specific applications include:
- All worm gear applications such as those used in conveyers, escalators, material handling, press drives, packaging machinery, ski lifts, agitators and mixers.
- Other gear and bearing applications in the cement, metalworking, plastics, food and textile finishing industries.
