Mobilmet® Upsilon
Oil Based Cutting Fluids

Product Description

Mobilmet Upsilon is a high performance mineral-oil-type, non-staining cutting oil. It contains a balanced selection of additives that maximises performance. It meets the anti-weld and lubricity requirements of moderate machining operations on most alloys. Mobilmet Upsilon cutting oil does not stain either ferrous or nonferrous metals during cutting operations and, likewise, will not stain after machining. The non-staining nature of this oil permits its use where complementary oils are required for the splash, hydraulic, or spindle lubrication systems of metalworking machines, or where bronze or white metal is used in machine components such as gibs or ways that are exposed to the cutting fluid. The Mobilmet oil will provide good wear protection for such components, will not corrode the bronze or white metal parts, and will protect ferrous metals against rust. If this oil leaks into the more active cutting oils, it will not seriously affect their cutting efficiency. In machines where the cutting oil leaks into the lubricant reservoir, the Mobilmet oil is ideal because it performs satisfactorily as a lubricant.

Mobilmet Upsilon oil is a light-coloured, low-odor cutting oil. It is intended primarily for high-speed, deep-hole drilling and boring of all nonferrous metals. It also is recommended for the general machining of free-machining alloys, magnesium and free-machining brass, bronze, and phosphor bronze as well as high-speed, light-feed machining of screw stock steels. In addition, it can be used as a lubricating oil for certain high-speed spindles.

Features and Benefits

The Mobilmet brand of cutting fluids has gained a well-deserved reputation for innovation and outstanding performance over the years. Mobilmet Upsilon is an important member of this family with effective non-corrosive additive and low-misting technology. This balanced formulation approach, developed by our formulation technologists in conjunction with key customers, yields superb performance in a wide range of machining applications, while providing good complementary oil capability.
