Product Description
DISCONTINUED - The recommended replacement product is Mobilith SHC 221.
Mobilith SHC RR 221 Grease is an extended life multipurpose EP lubricant that
is fully approved under the AAR M-942 specification for use in railcar wheel
bearings. Mobilith SHC RR 221 Grease combines an optimized additive package
with proven synthetic base oils and a robust lithium complex thickener system
to provide outstanding protection against wear, rust, high temperature
degradation and demanding startup and heavy loading conditions. The wax free
nature of the synthetic base oil delivers excellent low temperature
mobility/pumpability and very low starting and running torque values.
Features and Benefits
- Excellent resistance to water and seal compatibility.
- Multi-service capability with reduced wear.
- Very low starting and running torque values.
- Fully approved under the AAR M-942 specification for railcar wheel bearings
Applications
Mobilith SHC RR 221 Grease is recommended for the lubrication of grease-filled
freight car roller bearings/grease seal combinations that are not lubricated
in the field. The AAR M-942 specification requires that the lubricant be
acceptable for a minimum life of 500,000 miles for bearings in interchange
service. While Mobilith SHC RR 221 Grease is an NLGI No 1 EP grease with wide
temperature, multi-service capability, the product has been formulated to meet
the high vibration, all-weather, shock loading requirements of railcar wheel
bearings. Mobilith SHC RR 221 Grease is formulated to be compatible with
elastomers that are part of the M-942 Specification.
