Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF is recommended by ExxonMobil for use in 2005 and earlier GM vehicles. Mobil DEXRON-VI ATF is recommended for 2006 and newer GM vehicles and improved performance in 2005 and earlier GM vehicles, wherever DEXRON is specified. It is also recommended for Fords that require a MERCON V fluid or 1988 and newer Fords that require a MERCON fluid. Mobil Multi-vehicle ATF is recommended by ExxonMobil for Chrysler automatic transmissions.

Good maintenance practice dictates that automatic transmissions be checked for proper fluid levels at regular intervals, and that the fluid be drained and replaced at intervals recommended by the manufacturer. Some manufacturers recommend more frequent changes of transmission fluid under severe driving conditions such as those that occur in heavy traffic, in hot weather, or when pulling a trailer.
