Dalian Cement Group Co. Ltd.
Dalian, Liaoning, China

Situation
In June 2009, Dalian Cement Group’s hammer crusher experienced frequent overheating, which resulted in multiple bearing failures. In an effort to improve equipment reliability, the company approached ExxonMobil to identify a lubricant solution capable of operating in extreme temperatures.

Recommendation
After performing an on-site investigation, bearing inspection and Elastohydrodynamic (EHL) analysis, the ExxonMobil engineer recommended the company switch to Mobilith SHC™ 100 synthetic grease on its hammer crusher bearings. Formulated with a high performance synthetic base oil that resists viscosity thinning and oxidation at elevated temperatures, and a proprietary lithium complex thickener for robust structural stability, Mobilith SHC 100 grease is designed for a wide variety of applications that operate at high temperatures.

Result
After transitioning to Mobilith SHC 100 synthetic grease, the hammer crusher bearings no longer experienced overheating problems, which solved the bearing failure problems and reduced related unscheduled downtime, resulting in a company-estimated annual savings of US $153,000.
