Enhanced Fuel Economy

Synthetic oils have been formulated specifically to adapt to the extreme conditions modern engines endure. They circulate with more ease than traditional mineral oils, offering increased fuel efficiency. They get to work faster so the engine reaches peak operating efficiency sooner, unlike traditional mineral oils which take longer to circulate, making the engine less efficient and thirstier in the process.

Certain engine oil specifications require a fuel economy test limit to be achieved in order to meet the requirements of that specification. More demanding specifications set tougher limits (e.g. the Mercedes- Benz specification system uses tiered fuel economy limits). Oils meeting the toughest specifications such as MB 229.5 must provide improved fuel economy compared to less stringent specifications such as MB 229.1.
