5W-50 motor oils
5W-50 oil is favored as a viscosity alternate by premier European automakers and also as a primary recommendation by certain American automakers for their high-performance sport cars.
We offer Mobil 1™ FS X2 5W-50 synthetic oil for use in high-performance engines where conventional oils may not perform. This 5W-50 synthetic oil is suitable for use in many gasoline and diesel applications (without Diesel Particulate Filter), including turbo-charged and supercharged forced induction engines.
It is especially suited for a wide variety of motorsports application, towing and other extreme driving conditions.
What do the numbers in 5W-50 mean? The numbers refer to the weight and thickness, or viscosity, of the oil. Motor oil gets thicker when it’s cold and thinner when it heats up. The first number indicates the viscosity of the oil at a cold temperature, and the second number indicates the viscosity at operating temperatures.
